Quartz, glass and cobalt, painted by hand and fired once.
Jaipur blue pottery is made without clay. Ground quartz, glass and fuller's earth are kneaded into a dough, pressed into moulds, painted by hand in cobalt and copper oxides and fired once at a low heat. The craft came to Jaipur by way of Persia and the Mughal court, and the city has made it for a century and a half.

Makrana stone, carved, pierced and inlaid in Jaipur.
Makrana marble comes out of the hills north west of Jaipur, the stone the Taj Mahal was built from. In the workshops of Jaipur it is turned into tea light holders, trays and bowls by hand: carved, pierced into jali, and inlaid with brass and mother of pearl along lines scored with a chisel.
Hand made, so no two are identical. Small differences in the print, the dye and the finish are a record of the process and not a fault.

Dohars in eleven prints, single and double, from the Jaipur plain.
Dohars are crafted using a light weight three layer construction. A thin sheet of soft cotton muslin (mulmul) is sandwiched between two layers of mulmul, providing mild warmth without heavy bulk.
Dohars offer breathable layers of cotton with a thin cotton flannel core. It provides a comforting weight, allowing heat to escape naturally. Dohars help in regulating body temperature and keeping you comfortable during our winter months, often when the bedroom is warm and feels stifling.

Night suits and jackets from the printing yards of the Jaipur plain.
Bagru and Sanganer sit an hour apart on the Jaipur plain and both print by hand with carved teak blocks. The night suits and jackets are being made now and will appear here as they arrive, photographed as they are.
Blue pottery
Jaipur blue pottery has no clay in it. Ground quartz and glass are kneaded into a dough, pressed into moulds, painted freehand in cobalt and copper oxides and fired once. The brush wanders a little from piece to piece, which is how you know a hand held it. Wipe clean, keep away from the dishwasher, and keep it where it can be seen.
Marble
Makrana marble comes out of the hills north west of Jaipur, the stone the Taj Mahal was built from. In the Jaipur workshops it is carved, pierced into jali and inlaid with brass and mother of pearl along lines scored by hand. It is cool to the touch, heavy, and glows when there is a candle behind it.
Bed
A dohar is a light quilt from north India: three layers of fine cotton, block printed by hand and quilted with a running stitch, so it is cool to sleep under and warm enough on its own all year round. Ours come from the printing towns of the Jaipur plain in single and double, in eleven prints. Wash cool, dry in shade, and expect the colour to settle over the first few washes.
Wear
Cut plainly, so the cloth does the work. Bagru and Sanganer print by hand on cotton that was woven to be worn for years. Wash cold, dry in shade, and expect the print to soften over the first few washes.
Gift
The pieces that travel well. Each one comes wrapped in block printed cloth, with a card naming the craft and the town it came from. If you tell us it is a gift we leave the price off and put your note in.
